He was the s/o John and Charlotte (Pimbley) Tomlinson of Lancashire, England, m. c1806 maybe in England, Rebeckah ANDEWS #634 b. 30 Oct 1783 England, d. 01 Mar 1862 Walton, N.S. It is believed that he came to the U.S.A. in 1811 and maybe settled in New York, then later to Philadelphia, PA before coming to Nova Scotia around the early 1820's. Based on the 1827 census, Abel Tomlinson was found to be living in Kempt, Hants Co., N.S. Both Abel and Rebeckah Tomlinson are buried in St. Matthew cemetery, Walton. Rebecca: Taken from newspaper: March 1st, at Walton, Kempt Circuit, in the 78th year of her age, the wife of Abel Tomlinson, Esq. Mrs. Tomlinson had been a member of the Wesleyan church for upwards of 35 years. Her judgment was sound and firm, her spirit habitually humble, devout, calm and affectionate and her priaciples fixed and strong. She frequently exclaiming "I am not afraid to die- I know that when I die, I shall go to heaven- Christ is my Saviour- I feel him near- He has taken away the sting of death". Taylor passed away at her home at Dows Prairie from heart failure. She was born Dec. 26, 1835 at New Brunswick. She came to California thirty-six years ago and lived in Eureka for many years and then moved to Blue Lake. For the last year they have lived on the Fred Axe place at Dows Prairie. She leaves a widower, George Taylor, and one son. Funeral will be on Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic church in Arcata with interment in the Catholic cemetery.

She had been a resident of Eureka 21 years and was wildley known. She was a native of Nova Scotia. There are four children, five grandchildren and several great- grandchildren survive her. The remains are being held at the Pierce funeral parlor pending funeral arrangments.

The deceased was a native of Nova Scotia and was 71 years old. He had worked for various lumber companies during the time he has lived here. Besides his wife, Mrs. Margaret E. Tomlinson, he is survived by a son, Dr. Charles Tomlinson, sisters, Mrs. Eliza Patrick all of Eureka, and Mrs. Annie Sturgis of San Diego. He was a brother of the late Edwin Tomlinson.,
